Lycian way walking in turkey - Transport to Turkey

About the walk

By air
The Lycian way lies between the airports of Dalaman and Antalya. Charter flights to Antalya most of the year and Dalaman in the summer (April - to -October). Turkish Airlines (THY; most international flights are via Istanbul. Sun Express flies to Antalya from Germany (all year round). Jetiar and Thompson have year-round flights from the UK to Antalya and summer flights to Dalaman. Dalaman airport is a 3-4km taxi ride  Dalaman bus station. From there, regular and frequent buses go to Fethiye and Antalya. Antalya airport is 12 km from Antalya bus station. Havas buses go from the domestic terminal to the bus station and city. Taxis are the best option at night.

Antalya airport:
Antalya has a modern airport, only 12km East the city. Some charter flights run all year around, but most run from early-April-end-October. The following companies run scheduled flights:
Turkish airlines (THY): Istanbul and other internal flights, UK, Germany, everywhere.
Pegasus Airlines:

Turkish Cyprus Airlines (KTHY): UK and Northern Cyprus.

Transport from Airport - Antalya
THY runs a shuttle bus to Antalya centre and the bus garage from the domestic terminal after each flight for its own passengers only. Alternatively walk about 1.5 km to the main road and catch a passing bus. Otherwise the only transport is by taxi, costing about 40 TL/20 Euros to the town centre and a bit more to the main bus garage..

Dalaman Airport:
THY and KTHY run scheduled flights. Charters run from the start of May to the end of October. Dalaman airport is a 5 km taxi ride from Dalaman bus station. From there, frequent buses go to Fethiye and Antalya

By bus
Overnight buses run from Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir, and other places, to Antalya and Fethiye bus stations. approximate times: Antalya-Istanbul: 12 hours, Izmir-Fethiye: 6 hours.

Bus services
The overnight buses run on time, are clean and well serviced and are comparatively cheap. They run from Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir, plus many other places, to Antalya and Fethiye bus stations (otogar) for the Lycian Way. Typical times are Istanbul-Antalya: 12 hours, Izmir-Fethiye: 8 hours.

Most bus companies have offices in the city and regular service buses to the otogar. In Antalya there is a local bus marked 'Terminal' running from the town to the otogar.
